Malachite is reminiscent of Mallow leaves, which is how it got its name from the Greek word malakee or malache. It's a stone of transformation and helps its user with spiritual growth.

It's a carbonate of copper that sometimes appears in Azurite or Chrysocolla.

Malachite was worn by the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians. Russian czars used it in architecture. It was known to protect against the "evil eye" and ancients believed it cured stomach ailments. Because it looks similar to an eye many believed it enhanced visual powers and protected against evil.
