33 Years of Shakedown Street: A Belated but Grateful Celebration

This year marks 33 years of Shakedown Street — a wild, wonderful ride that started back in 1991 and has grown into something bigger than we ever imagined.

What began as a local smoke shop with a Grateful Dead soul has become a Grand Rapids staple, offering up the best in smoking accessories, boutique clothing, handmade silver jewelry, and all kinds of unique gifts that reflect the free-spirited, creative community we love being part of.

Through the decades, we've stayed true to our roots — embracing the art, music, and counterculture that shaped us, and always keeping that laid-back, one-of-a-kind Shakedown vibe alive. We've seen fashion trends come and go, welcomed generations of loyal customers, and watched Grand Rapids grow — and we’re proud to have stayed weird, welcoming, and local through it all.

To everyone who’s walked through our doors, supported our shop, and shared in the Shakedown energy over the years: thank you. You’re the heart of this place, and we wouldn’t be here without you.
